- Pay your bills on time at least half of the balance. Make sure your income to debt ration is low...translation if you make 50k per year don't owe more than 5k at any time. There is no such thing as credit repair. Any company making that claim is full of bull. That tends to be an identity and money making scam to help desperate people.
- The one thing you don`t want to do is pay "off" your credit cards and "close" the account if you have them ! You need to keep open accounts that shows open lines of credit with a 0 balance ! Without these accounts being left open , even with a 0 balance , it will drop your credit score ! Paid current , up to date accounts" which is good for your credit score , as it gives the lenders a gauge to see how you paid the accounts . Leaving them open shows you have available credit and are eligible for more if you desired !. Do not use "credit repair companies" it is a rip off ! They charge you a fee just to have you put money aside for them to pay down the balance at a later date ! They claim that they will negotiate a lower pay off amount with the companies you owe ! However , they are charging you a substantial fee to do something for you that you can fully do for yourself without paying anything ! A few years ago I was using one of these Credit Repair Co. , they were automaticqally dedcuting $195.00 a month from my checking acct . Of this amount $ 75.00 was going into their pocket , and they were depositing $120.00 in the account they had set up for me !! It would have taken me 36 months to get enough money in my acct. with them to pay off the couple of debts I was having trouble with ! All along they had made $ 2,700.00 off of me using them to do what I could have done for myself , plus I could have had the $2,700.00 to pay on my own debts ?? That`s the last time I used " Liberal Mathematics " !!
